Zantedeschia

The unique silky chocolate texture to the flower of Zantedeschia 'Memories'PBR. Named as a Tribute to the Italian botanist Giovanni Zantedeschi, but also known as Calla Lilies or Arum, these plants originate from Africa. Initially introduced to Europe during the 17th century, Zantedeschia is now widespread across the globe, thriving near to watercourses. In fact, unbelievably these beautiful lilies have been declared a pest in Western Australia for invading pastures and being toxic to livestock.

Their unique beauty makes them seem almost alien to most other flowers. This is because unlike true flowers they are a fake flower (Pseudanthium). This fake flower is made up of a modified bact (spathe) creating a cup around the spadex, which is a essentially a spike covered in lots of miniscule flowers.
