Fatsia Japonica

Fatsia japonica, with its large, glossy palmate, lobed leaves. Generally between 7-9 lobed. Hence the name fatsia, from the word fatsi – meaning hachi or eight in Japanese. These plants thrive in partial shade to full shade, and look great in amongst other Japanese style plants. There are variegated varieties also, but these generally grow much slower. A bigeneric hybrid also exists between Fatsia and Ivy (X Fatshedera). This has much more star like foliage as apposed to lobed, but a very similar growth habit.
